Your Scottsdale Real Estate Specialist
"Making your Scottsdale luxury home, golf home, vacation home or second home a reality"

Do you have curb appeal?

The first thing a buyer will see is the outside of your home.  The more appealing the outside, the more it will drawn them in.  Would you be interested in seeing a home with dryed out grass, dead flowers and shutters falling off?  Making sure the outside of your home is looking it's best is a great first step in getting your house ready.

  • Sweep the driveway and the walkways
  • Clear away any trash, bicycle or toys
  • Pay close attention to your landscapiing, water regularly, and consider adding some annual flowers
  • Consider a fresh coat of paint
  • Clean your windows
  • Clean up after your pets
  • Make sure all plumbing and outdoor appliances are in good working order
  • Clean out your gutters
  • Take a good honest look at your roof, replace any broken or missing roof tiles, you'll thank yourself later!

Inside Attention

Once you have made a good impression with the outside of your home, its time to turn your attention to your living space.  Making your home feel warm, cozy and homey is important.  You want your buyers to be able to imagine themselves living in the space.

  • Make sure your kitchen is sparkling clean and free of countertop clutter
  • Clean your bathrooms from top to bottom
  • Ensure your windows, sinks, tile and bathtubs are appropriately sealed and clean
  • Have your carpets cleaned
  • Make sure all dishes are clean and put away.  Do not leave dishes in the sink or drying on a rack
  • Make the beds with fresh linens
  • Arrange rooms to appear as spacious as possible.  This may mean removing furniture and putting it in storage or your garage
  • Straighten your closets, store out of season clothes to make more space
  • Keep your pets out of sight
  • Open the blinds, turn on the lights, arrange some fresh flowers or fruit for display and play soft music in the background
  • Bake some fresh chocolate chip cookies, they make the house smell delicious
  • Stay away from air fresheners, if you do use one, choose a vanilla scent
  • Turn on the fireplace in the winter
  • Turn off the television (unless you have a media room, and want to show it off)
